Welcome to the inaugural blog of The Garden Coach

Gardening is a popular hobby that millions of people enjoy and optimism is the one trait that us gardeners all have in common.  Why else would we sow a seed or plant a sapling?  The hope that something beautiful or tasty will result from our efforts is what drives us, even when success is not certain.   In my case, I’m also hopeful that the launch of The Garden Coach will be a valuable resource for gardeners in the Dallas – Ft. Worth Metroplex.   Helping people achieve their garden and landscape goals is what drives me.

If there’s one thing I’ve observed in 25 years as a serious gardener, it’s that there is always something new – whether it be plants or pests.  The Garden Coach website is a place where people will be able to learn about the latest trends, as well as the tried and true.  The information you will find here is specific to the Metroplex, not generic to Texas (a BIG state!) or other parts of the country that don’t have our challenges.

The Garden Coach Gallery pages contain photographs and information about plants, insects, and other critters that I’ve collected over the years.  Want to know what’s blooming (or otherwise showy) at a particular time of year?  Check out the Blooming Calendar.  Looking to attract butterflies and hummingbirds? Search the Plant Library  for Pollinator Friendly entries.  Or wondering if that bug is friend or foe?  Check out the Garden Visitors database.

Follow The Garden Coach on Instagram or Facebook and you’ll see in real time the good, the bad, and the ugly from my own garden in Denton County – all so that you can be more knowledgeable and successful in your own gardening endeavors.  Better gardeners make better gardens, so let’s learn and grow.
