April 27-30, 2018:  Help DFW defend its 2017 title as the urban area with the most observations in “The City Nature Challenge” and promote the incredible natural diversity of the Metroplex.  Join other major metropolitan areas of Texas and, this year, cities around the world, as people use the iNaturalist app to search out and document thousands of species.  It’s free and easy to participate.  No special knowledge required.

February 24-April 8, 2018:  “Dallas Blooms” at the Dallas Arboretum.  This annual event is one of the largest spring flower displays in the southwest, with over 100 varieties of spring bulbs producing half a million blooms.

February 16-19, 2018:  The 20th annual “Great Backyard Bird Count” sponsored by the National Audubon Society and the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.   Observe and count the birds you see in your backyard or anywhere for at least 15 minutes on any one or all of the count days.  Upload the information for free on the official website and you will be supporting conservation and citizen science activities.

November 4, 2017-January 7, 2018:  “The Twelve Days of Christmas” at the Dallas Arboretum.
